Locomotion & Behavior | Basal centrosaurine herbivore with long, curved brow horns and elaborate spike-like parietal frill projections. Inhabiting the Wahweap Formation of Utah, Diabloceratops represents an early evolutionary ancestor to later Campanian horned giants such as [Centrosaurus](/dinosaurs/centrosaurus) and [Styracosaurus](/dinosaurs/styracosaurus). | Gregarious horned herbivore that gathered in massive herds numbering hundreds of individuals, as demonstrated by catastrophic bonebed deposits. In the Dinosaur Park Formation, Centrosaurus coexisted with fellow ceratopsians like [Styracosaurus](/dinosaurs/styracosaurus) and duck-billed hadrosaurs like [Corythosaurus](/dinosaurs/corythosaurus). |
Holotype & Fossils | Nearly complete articulated skull with intact horn cores and lower jaws (UMNH VP 16699). | Megabonebeds in Dinosaur Provincial Park yielding thousands of bones and dozens of intact skulls. |
