TheropodaGallimimus bullatus Osmólska et al., 1972
The largest known ornithomimid 'ostrich dinosaur', famous for its immense running speed across ancient Mongolia.
TheropodaAcrocanthosaurus atokensis Stovall & Langston, 1950
A high-spined North American apex predator famous for hunting sauropods across Early Cretaceous river valleys.

Diet & Trophic Role | Omnivore Omnivorous; filter-fed aquatic microorganisms, consumed seeds, fruits, shoots, and small insects. | Carnivore Hunted sauropods like Sauroposeidon and ornithopods like Tenontosaurus. |
Taxonomic Clade | Theropoda(Suborder) | Theropoda(Suborder) |
Fossil Localities | Nemegt Formation, Gobi Desert, Mongolia Named: 1963 | Antlers Formation, Atoka County, Oklahoma, United States Named: 1940 |
Locomotion & Behavior | Swift, ostrich-like ornithomimid herbivore or omnivore that used speed and herd flocking for predator evasion. In the Nemegt Formation of Mongolia, Gallimimus coexisted alongside giant bizarre theropods like [Therizinosaurus](/dinosaurs/therizinosaurus) and was hunted by apex tyrannosaurid [Tarbosaurus](/dinosaurs/tarbosaurus). | Apex pursuit predator that shared the Early Cretaceous coastal plain ecosystem with contemporary dromaeosaurids like [Deinonychus](/dinosaurs/deinonychus) and large ornithopods like [Tenontosaurus](/dinosaurs/tenontosaurus). Trackway assemblages and body fossils indicate it operated as the dominant carnivore across these ancient river deltas. |
Holotype & Fossils | Multiple complete articulated skeletons ranging from juveniles to large adults. | Spectacular complete specimen 'Fran' (NCSM 14345) mounted at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences. |
