OrnithopodaTenontosaurus tilletti Ostrom, 1970
A muscular Early Cretaceous ornithopod with an exceptionally long, deep tail, famous as the prey of Deinonychus.
OrnithopodaCorythosaurus casuarius Brown, 1914
A hollow-crested hadrosaurid from Alberta possessing a tall, semicircular helmet crest for sound resonance.

Taxonomic Clade | Ornithopoda(Suborder) | Ornithopoda(Suborder) |
Fossil Localities | Cloverly Formation, Montana, United States Named: 1903 | Dinosaur Park Formation, Alberta, Canada Named: 1911 |
Locomotion & Behavior | Medium-sized ornithopod herbivore possessing an unusually long, stiffened tail. Preserved frequently in the Cloverly Formation in multi-predator association with [Deinonychus](/dinosaurs/deinonychus), Tenontosaurus was a primary food source for regional carnivores including [Acrocanthosaurus](/dinosaurs/acrocanthosaurus). | Herbivorous hadrosaurid that used its hollow helmet-like cranial crest as an acoustic resonating chamber and visual display structure. In the Dinosaur Park ecosystem, Corythosaurus lived sympatrically with related crest-bearing hadrosaurs like [Parasaurolophus](/dinosaurs/parasaurolophus) and horned herbivores like [Centrosaurus](/dinosaurs/centrosaurus). |
Holotype & Fossils | Dozens of articulated skeletons, frequently found in direct association with Deinonychus. | Nearly complete skeletons with preserved skin impressions and ossified tendons. |
